This is a really quick one, as I'm on the road.

3 Gymnopedies – Olivia Belli

A wonderful rendition of one of my favorite piano pieces. I read recently that mid-tempo classical (or at least instrumental) music is the best background music for studying or focusing, and I think it's very true.

One Last Breath – Creed

If you were a MLB All-Star and you came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, game on the line, what song would you choose to play when you walked up? Some good old Creed would do the job, I think.

House of the Rising Sun – Lizzy McAlpine

A great singer, a classic song. 1 + 2 =3.

Iceland Moss – Sudan Archives

Sudan Archives is a violinist, but the sound she's cultivated around her violin is fascinating. Iceland Moss is a good litmus test for her work. If you like this, dive in. If not, no harm done.

Dixie Rothko – St. Paul & The Broken Bones

The soul of St. Paul & The Broken Bones is singer Paul Janeway, with a voice like honey whiskey, but their bona fides run deep. With each record, they take some creative risks but keep a consistent fantastic sound.
